Tofu, An alternative to paneer ?

As we all know that nowadays Tofu is quite popular in market because, it seems like paneer in his consistency and somewhere in colour, but do you really think that tofu is an alternative to paneer ?  let's discuss this in simple way.

Paneer

    It is a milk product found commonly in South Asia mostly in India. It is high protein food most vegetarian preferred it due to its high protein which is substitute of meat protein. 
                  As a nutritional fact 100 gram of paneer made from cow milk provides 18.8 gram protein, 20.8 gram fat,  2.6 gram mineral, 1.2 gram Carbohydrate,  265 kcal energy,  208 milligram of calcium, 138 milligrams of phosphorus. it contain good amount of fat and cholesterol,it would be better to avoid it for BP patient due to its high fat content.

  • Paneer contain magnesium which is better for healthy heart and immune system.

  • It has decent amount of phosphorus which help in digestion and excretion.
  • It is rich source of folate (B complex vitamin)  which is very essential for pregnant women.
  • Due to high protein it keep your satiety Centre satisfy and delay your hunger.
  • It also contain casein which prevent growth of Cancer cell.

Tofu

         It is a coagulated soya milk ,originated from China.  A 100 grams of Tofu contains 70 kcal, 1.5 gram carbohydrate, 3.5 gram fat, 8 gram protein 130 mg milligrams calcium ,1.10 milligram iron, 4 milligram sodium ,in China Tofu considered as a cooling agent in traditional chinese medicine, however there is no such scientific evidence supporting this theory.

  • Due to present of low calories it is good for weight loss.
  • It decrease the high cholesterol level .
  • It decrease the menopausal symptoms.
  • Presence of isoflavones which is anti cancerous.
  • It also help to prevent osteoporosis.
  • It is best for anaemia due to present of iron.

 Incontext of nutritional information both Tofu and Paneer it seems that paneer can be substitute with Tofu for someone on weight loss plan, but avoiding paneer completely would not be good due to its other healthy benefits like high protein and Calcium content.


               Tofu can be beneficial for those who are lactose intolerant, some study said few people are allergic from tofu due to its soya origin.

 Tofu qualifies as a healthy option for heart patient and diabetic patient over regular market paneer.

Last but not the least, both tofu and paneer are beneficial for health and for better immunity. A choice between Tofu and Paneer is depend on your test and health goal, because both Tofu and Paneer has its own nutrition value .For some people paneer is good and for others Tofu, every person have different requirement so it's better to take advice from dietician to start with Tofu / paneer.
